In honor of the NFL Draft going down tomorrow at 3pm, it’s fitting that I introduce this Hampton, Virginia native. Very fitting. 6′4. 210 pounds. 23 years old. Born in Charlottesville, Virgina but the 757 is his home. A rookie. A New York Giant. A Super Bowl Ring. Meet Brandon London.
And he models. And wants to act. And is still confident in being better than you on the field.
Who are you looking forward to seeing at the NFL draft?
I’m going to be watching to see where my boy Chris Long from UVA goes. My father coached him in college and we’ve become friends because of that.
What has been your latest disappointment?
I was disappointed in myself for skipping Bible study recently because I didn’t feel like driving.
Advice you can give to the new Rookie’s coming in.
My advice to any rookie that’s coming is to try and sit down and learn as much as possible. Just shut your mouth, come in and learn.
Is it cool to have sex with your friend’s ex-girlfriend?
Nah, that’s not cool. Dudes got hearts like girls when it comes to stuff like that.
When you first walk into a room people initially think ……
Look at my face and say, “daaamn his parents must be fine.” Lol, probably look at me and think I play basketball.
What do you value most about College football?
The NFL is a revolving door league, one guy leaves another guy enters. But in college, those were the guys I grinded with to get to this spot. We were broke together. We use to make spaghetti with manwich sauce. We were so broke, just waiting on our next check to go grocery shopping. You can beat stuff like that. Those are your boys for life.
Floor or counter?

Counter. I’m tall. It’s right by my pelvis area. I don’t have to bend down or anything. When you’re with small girls, it’s a real work out. If I want to work out, I’ll go to the stadium. And with the counter, you’re close to the refrigerator. The strawberries, whip cream, chocolate syrup. Licking and kissing with props with someone you’re really feeling and want to pleasure makes it a lot more fun. If it’s someone you’re not really into it’s just…
A lot quicker?
[Laughs] Not quicker. It’s just you better hurry up and get your before I get mine. Because after I’m done, im turning sports center on and falling asleep. That sounds kind of bad. [Laughs]
What are your fondest childhood memories?
When my uncle was in high school he was the man in football and the man in baseball. Colleges were recruiting him and all the girls were going after him. Just watching him go through that was amazing. Really, just being with my family and hanging out with them. That’s when Allen Iverson was the man and he came out with the Questions and Answers, just that whole movement, the whole Virginia Movement.
Tell me about an embarrassing moment in your career.
It was my last year at UMass Amherst, at the National Championship Game. It was 3rd and 12 and I went across the middle, and got banged out in front of everybody. My whole family was there. I wanted to grab him and choke him because the whole crowd went crazy. It was on ESPN, so I know all my boys at home saw it. I felt like a punk in that moment because I dropped the ball. I lay there for a little bit because my leg started cramping, but I had to hop up. A couple guys from the opposite school came up to me and started talking trash. And that was the one time I had to just be quiet on the field.
What’s keep you motivated?
My last name is London. My family – we’re competitors. Since I was a little kid my family use to have my brother and I play one on one basketball while everyone watched. I grew up my whole life competing. So I want to be the best at whatever I do in life. If I say I’m going to do something, whether is race somebody up the stairs or play Madden, I want to win. I want to be the best. It’s competition mixed with seeing my mother and father grind. My father does his thing with coaching and my mother does a whole bunch of things down in Atlanta. There’s not a lazy bone in my body when it comes to wanting to be the best. I want to be better than anybody who steps on the field with me.
Describe the transition from College football to the NFL.
You go from a 1-AA school to playing against the best players in the world. There was so much stuff I had to learn in terms of the playbook. Route running, blocking, catching the ball – everything was being thrown at me so fast. I had to get adjusted to the speed of the game because everybody’s fast and everybody’s strong. It’s really just learning how to be a professional. I kind of struggled with it at first, caught a grasp then struggled during training camp. Then I started to come around. That’s why they signed me to the pint squad and decided to keep me around.
Do you have any long term goals after football?
I want to coach High School Football. And I’d like to do some acting.
What do you miss most about college?
I miss the Horseshoe at South West beach. In late April/May, girls are out tanning. The boys are playing football and basketball. Just the overall college experience.
Favorite prescription drug?
Oh you trying to get me in trouble with the league? I had surgery my junior year and they gave me Vicodin. I thought it was the best thing in the world. I was so chill. I was watching football and didn’t know what was going on. Anytime I get hurt, I’m poppin’ them thangs like skittles.
What area of your game do you feel can be worked on?
Using my body better. I’m 6 4 and I’m skinny. I skip yoga class and stretching, I can get way with it now because I’m young. I see Amani Toomer doing yoga, stretching and eating right all the time. He takes care of his body; he’s going on his 13th year. I really need that discipline. I love yoga. In football your body bends in ways you can’t imagine. I don’t want to get injured and end up on the sidelines. On the sidelines, you’re not getting that money. I want to be out there with my boys.
Who do you admire in the NFL?
David Tyree because he is a great man of God and stands up for what he believes in. He helped me a lot in bringing me closer to the Lord. The Lord has used him to get me closer. And Randy Moss – that’s a bad boy. I get to be him in practice and run the routes he runs. To break Jerry Rice’s record, is amazing. I’m coming for that record. I got to talk to him and he told me if you want something go out and get it. Go out and go hard for it.
What’s the last book you read?
Terrell Owens, Catch This. That booked helped me get through Umass because he talks about how he went to a small school and had to work hard. I need to finish the Autobiography of Malcolm X. And I want to read Nelson Mandela’s story. I like John Grisham books too. And I read the bible.
Listening to now…
Harlem’s American Gangster and Sa-Rah.
What do you listen to before a game?
Pastor Troy. He’s my all time favorite rapper.
Pick three Football players and create a Rap group.
Terrell Owens, DeAngelo Hall and Chad Johnson. Their group would be called The Egos. All three of them have EGOS. The group would only last for about two days because each one of them would want to be the lead singer. Their swag and songs would come out pretty fresh though.
What question are you usually asked by the media that you wish were different?
When people usually ask me questions in regards to inspiration, they usually lean toward my father’s success and how that affects me. But I want them to start asking about my mother and some of the stuff she’s done. When her and my father split up, she was a single mother. She went down to Atlanta to really start her life. She started a newspaper, did rap shows for up and coming Atlanta artists, beauty pageants, put a CD and book out, and she’s now writing a screen play. But nobody knows that because she’s not in the papers all the time like my father. People usually think my perception of success comes from my father, but little do they know, my mother is down there doing her thing. I learned a lot from my father in football, but I learned a whole lot about life overall from my mother. Not just grinding in football, but being the best in life.
You seem shy. And really laid back.
What?! People always tell me to shut up. And that I’m so cocky, conceited, talk too much. I’m laid back when it’s time to be laid back. But usually I’m clowning all the time or talking so much trash to anybody. It’s amusing to me. I like to get people riled up. It’s fun to see people laugh.
Is there much different between your personality on and off the field?
On the field I’m so focused. I’m worried about getting my job done and trying to be the best. Off the field, I’m a big little kid. All I do is play Madden and clown with my boys. However, when I’m in a social setting or around girls I act very grown. So my personality changes with my settings.
Would you change anything about your career?
In high school, I would of got better grades. It hurt that my grades weren’t good enough to play at a bigger ACC school. I got overlooked by a lot of wide receivers at bigger schools that were nowhere close to being better than me. If I would of went to Wake Forest and played ACC football I would had more structure. Bigger schools get players ready for the NFL. I had to grind by myself most of that time at Umass. I had to go out and do extra stuff on my own to get better. If I went to a bigger school, I’m sure I would have been drafted at least first day in the draft.
What pisses you off?
Fake people. In this lifestyle you meet people who just want to be around because of what you do. Just be you.
One thing you can’t live without.
I can’t live without my family. I’m in constant contact with them. We’re like a tribe.
What’s one thing your mother was right about?
These girls. She always use to say “hell hath no scorn worst than a woman’s fury.”
What do you look for in relationships?
As long as she’s the most beautiful girl in the world to me, that’s all I need. She has to be like one of my boys. I want to be able to chill with her and be who I am around her.
Do you remember your first kiss?
I was in 4th grade. We were on the back of the bus and one of our boys held up his jacket to block the bus driver from being able to see us. I was french kissing these 6th graders and feeling them up. I thought I was the man. The next day, someone snitched and we were suspended from school for 10 days.
What do you look for in a girl?
I want a girl who wants to go to Chili’s or TGIF Fridays. The Buddha Bar is cool, but I don’t want to pay 50 dollars for just a little bit of food. I’m a big dude. I want a bug slab of baby back ribs.
Should women pay on the first date?
Hellllllll…..
Yes and no.
At least offer to pay. Like half.
It wasn’t my idea to go out to eat. We could have gone walking through Central Park. No, really, it depends on the girl.
Favorite body part.
My abs and my face. I’m a pretty handsome person.

Female.
I’m a breast guy. I love some beautiful perfect looking breast. I love when women wear those shirts where their breasts look all plump. Actually, I love a big booty. This is hard.
Cassie or Lauren London?
Umm, I’d say Lauren London. I saw them both at Rip the Runway. Cassie is a little too small for me, plus I think Lauren London dimples are sexy. And she already has my last name so in case I wife that some day, she doesn’t have to change a thing!
Most messed up thing a girl has done to you.
[Starts singing, Usher and R. Kelly, Same Girl]
In college, there was this girl I was really feeling. I liked her. Come to find out, when she wasn’t with me, she was with one of the guys on the Basketball team.
Guilty Pleasures?
I love the club! But I’ll still wake up the next day, go to the weight room, run, and still put a guy into the ground. That’s my work ethic. I know I should stay home sometimes, because I’m in the club wasting money, buying bottles. But it makes me work harder to keep paying for everything that I do. I play hard and I work harder.
Do you love the strip club?
Why would I go to a strip club and pay money to a girl to shake her butt for me when I can just talk to her outside and get her to do it at my house for free?
Ultimate panty dropping song?
Seduction by Usher. That songs puts me in mack daddy mode.
What’s the biggest misconception about football players?
That we have to take a different girl home every night. That girls throw themselves at us, we can’t be faithful because we have so many groupies. I mean, I’m not saying it’s not true. But people over exaggerate too much. There are some really good guys in the NFL, like David Tyree who is a man of the Lord and loves his wife to death. When I meet my Queen I want it to be like what he has with his wife. He’s all about her. There are a lot of good guys in the NFL, they kind of get, well, WE kind of get a bad image because people think that we’re going to slip our penis into everything that comes at us.
At your age, do you feel pressure about being a role model?
I don’t feel any pressure at all. When I go talk to kids in school, I tell them I go to the clubs; I tell them I have sex. I tell them if they’re going to do it to be safe. I don’t want them to make the mistakes that people I know have made. I was the one who made it. If they see me living a positive life, they can aspire to that. Football is a scapegoat to get these young kids off the street and into college.
Where does modeling and acting fit in with football?
It’s all about image. I have to take care of what I have to take care of on the field. Modeling or acting comes after the field. If there’s one thing I learned from Michael Strahan and those guys it’s that if you take care of what you have to take care of in Football, all the other things are going to come. And it’s just going to bring in more money and opportunities. The sex symbol thing is really what it is. When I start playing and people start hearing my name, that’s going to draw things to me and open up doors. Not only for myself, but for my mom, my brother, my boys at home. So I can get them involved. I’m a firm believer in once you get put on; you have to put on your people. It’s like with rappers, they get on, and then put their boys on, their boys can’t rap a lick, but that’s family. I want everybody in my circle to eat. I don’t want to be the only one eating.
Best advice.
Treat people how you want to be treated. It’s a small world, never burn any bridges.

Awsome story Elle. I really appreciate those who take the time to let the world know about some of the amazing people who graduate UMASS and become true stars in the game. Sometimes, people tend to hold these beliefs or misconception about UMASS and then try to bash or put down everything that goes on around here. Yes, UMASS is a huge ass school and yes there are knuckle heads who do stupid shit and give us a bad rep. Sometimes we just have to weave out the bad and praise the good. My brother is a perfect example of someone who graduated from UMASS and made the best of his experience and is now living the dream every mother would want their son or daughter to live. Not mention he’s an overachiever. I mean i’m glad i got someone to whoop my ass whenever i’m doing the wrong thing. I appreciate everything he does for me too.
I’m glad that my brother forced me to come here, instead of paying $ 48,000.00 to attend a school in D.C. Shit, my time and money is being well spent here.
I wish BL the best because WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the BESSSSSSSSSTTTTTT.
I’m not joking about that either. You’ll be surprise about some of the shit this school got stirring up these days.
Class of ‘09 is quite fierce. Well at least i like to think i am.

this lovely man.
church, the field, countertops, the club.
I can’t take it.
he’s seems so down to earth, yes you most likely can just talk to a girl outside and later she’ll be “sliding down you like you were a ski slope” later.
yes you should have been suspended for 10days for being such a mr. hot pants.
yes you’re going to kill them on the field, please do acting. . .I smell a costaring movie coming up!
modeling= underwear, thanks

I’ve never tried Lucky Star – but that creepy cartoon monster logo they have misleads me to thinkin’ the bus might end up at Disney – but then when it just drops me off on Canal street – I just start crying.
BUT – when I head to Boston on Memorial Day weekend – I’m taking this new bus – BOLT BUS (http://www.boltbus.com) – it has WiFi on it, outlets for charging devices, each seat has extra 3 to 4 inches of legroom, and toilets that flush! AND – the earlier u book ur ticket – the cheaper it is… I got mine on May 21st for 7$
Is it SAD that I’m literally EXCITED to take this bus – so I can plug my laptop in and surf the web the whole trip… lmao
April 28, 2008 at 10:06 am |
Thats dope. I thought Lucky Star has tix for a buck. Or some bs does that has a gigantic add by 93N/90W split by Chinatown. Blah.

i am about to read this article but just to let you know: Brandon was NOT born in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was born in RICHMOND, Virginia. I oughta know. I’m his mother and i have the stretchmarks to prove it! ha ha ha!
June 14, 2008 at 9:30 am |
okay this is his mother again. i read the article and i’m gagging. the 2nd best advice i gave him is: hell hath no fury than a woman scorned. the #1 advice i gave him is: let OTHER people compliment you rather than you doing it all yourself. also, there are fine guys EVERYWHERE. Have something ELSE to offer a woman other than your looks. Have some SUBSTANCE. And shut up talking about yourself. it gets BORING listening to you talk about yourself. be humble and hope you don’t get a face disease. otherwise, good article.
