The Memory Keeper’s Daughter

By elle

“Absolutely mesmerizing,” is how Sue Monk Kidd, author of “The Secret Life of Bees” described “The Memory Keeper’s Daughter.” This novel by Kim Edwards had me completely engulfed in all 401 pages. Extensively detailed, but thoroughly worth it. The book tells the story of Dr. David Henry who delivers his own twins – one, a baby girl, who is born with Down syndrome. He tells his wife, the baby died and that only the son survived. The assisting nurse, Caroline was instructed to take the baby girl to an institution. Caroline keeps the baby. And from there, both families experience the love, the longing, and of course, the lies. I felt so involved in the story. The secret is only reveled to the readers, until the very end of the book. So you feel like the secret is between you and David. It’s amazing the way you watch a decision made in a split second affect the way he lived his life and communicated with his family.

Beyond excited that Lifetime picked up the movie. On April 12th at 9pm, I’ll be watching. Oh, and I just love Emily Watson.

Watch the trailer.
